The story of the slave Anastácia says that she was a slave daughter of a black woman with a white man and the result of sexual abuse.
It is believed that Anastácia was a woman of rare beauty, with her blue eyes and she refused to have relations with a slave master and, therefore, was forced to wear an iron mask and only take it off to eat.
After intense mistreatment, Anastacia fell ill and was taken to Rio de Janeiro, where she died.
Anastacia is considered a martyr and saint in several places in Brazil, including in Mariana, where a letter was found in the town hall during the restoration process, from (VER DATA) in which a person asks the mayor of the city to light a candle for the slave in gratitude for a miracle she received.
