St. Peter's Square/Basilica

Exuberant by its location, in it the visitor can enjoy a beautiful view of the city, there is the main viewpoint of the city.

The risk of the church is from Antônio Pereira de Souza. It is one of the only three baroque churches in Minas with round plan, revolutionary characteristic for the time.

His main builder was José Pereira Arouca. The construction is 1752, but the work is unfinished. The chief altar, clothed in cedar, and the roof of the presbytery, prove that the temple would be majestic if it were completed. The left tower is original and stone and the right of bricks, because it has fallen twice. The roof resembles a turtle hull while the bottom of a ship.
